New Van For CBCCC PNG

Titahi Bay Community Church is seeking to partner the National Office of the Christian Brethren Churches in Papua New Guinea in raising funds to purchase a new van to be used in Wewak. The present one is now more than ten years old and has served CBC very well, operating in what is a very harsh environment.

The CBC National Office in Wewak serves a group of over 460 CBC churches, the majority of which are in remote locations in the West Sepik Province and in the He la Province of the Highlands Region.

In addition to the churches and Bible School programmes, CBC provides through its Social Service programmes, Adult Literacy, Education and Health Services to communities in both the West Sepik Province and the Hela Province, along with a Distance Education Programme through which it seeks to equip men and women in Community-Based Organisations with basic money and management skills.

Having a reliable vehicle is essential for the CBC National Office to help meet the needs of these communities by meeting planes, helping groups pick up materials, transporting the sick to and from the hospital, supporting health and education leaders and other CBC people.

We write to you to highlight the need for a replacement van. In the past, God's work among the CBC churches in PNG has been strongly supported by New Zealand churches by sending and supporting mission partners, by sending teams for practical ministry, or by partnering with a particular ministry. In many ways the CBC churches stand as a result of this. However, it would be really appreciated if you could make this particular urgent need known, and to contribute financially towards it. A range of options to replace the present van have been explored, and the most effective and cost-effective option is to buy a new one in Wewak.

GC ·Aid has kindly accepted this project as one suitable for granting a tax rebate on money being sent to it for this purpose. This means that for every dollar individuals send through GC Aid for this van, the donor will have a receipt eligible for a 33% tax credit at the end of the tax year. Gifts for this purpose need to be made out to GC Aid and clearly marked for CBC VAN.
