At GC3, we often talk about “looking out” and seeing beyond our own lives to notice where God is at work in the world and choosing to join Him there. Sometimes that looks like prayer. Sometimes generosity. Sometimes stepping into someone else’s story, shoulder to shoulder, to help carry the load.
Today we want to highlight a story that does exactly that.
Continuing a Legacy of Gospel-Driven Compassion
Many in our churches will know the remarkable ministry of Colleen Redit (Day 7), the founder of Christian Missions Charitable Trust (CMCT). For decades, Colleen has lived out a God-given vision to lift people out of deep poverty and oppression while keeping the transforming power of the gospel at the very centre.
CMCT relies heavily on international support to sustain this work. And while the ministry has grown, the need has grown too. The CMCT board has taken significant steps to ensure the ministry continues to have strong leadership and a long-term sustainability plan.
International funding is always gratefully appreciated while CMCT continues to work toward a future where more of its funding can be generated locally.
A Hospital Refurbishment That Will Change the Future
One critical step is the refurbishment of CMCT’s hospital. A modern, well-equipped facility will not only continue serving the very poor; it will also attract paying clients whose fees will subsidise those unable to pay.
This upgrade is a key part of CMCT’s long-term sustainability plan. It requires significant capital investment now to ensure the ministry can stand strong for decades to come.
And this is where one Kiwi has decided to take an extraordinary step of faith.
A Motorcycle, 18 Countries, and One Ambitious Goal
In late February 2026, Baden Brown will begin a six-month motorcycle journey from Aotearoa New Zealand to the UK, travelling via India where CMCT’s work is based.
His goal?
To raise NZD $1 million for the future of CMCT.
It is intentionally ambitious. But Baden believes, and we do too, that when many people contribute a little, something extraordinary can happen.
Instead of relying on a few donors giving large amounts, Baden is inviting 100,000 people to give $10 each. A community effort. A shared commitment to lifting others up.
Along the way, Baden will meet church groups, mission supporters, and curious onlookers, sharing Colleen’s story and the ongoing work of CMCT. His YouTube channel will document the journey weekly, helping others follow, pray, and share the need.
A Self-Funded Journey of Faith
None of the donations raised will fund Baden’s trip.
He is carrying the full cost himself, with the help of several generous sponsors.
Even so, there are still practical costs he is hoping supporters might stand behind:
Fuel: $7,500
Food: $10,000
Accommodation: $10,000
Flights: $4,000
Ferries: $1,000
Insurance: $5,000
Visas and documentation: $5,000
In return, Baden will acknowledge sponsors on his platforms and throughout his vlog series.
How You Can Be Part of Lifting Others Up
This initiative is more than a fundraising ride. It is an invitation to remember why mission exists: to demonstrate Christ’s love, restore dignity, and offer hope in places where it is desperately needed.
If you would like to learn more or get involved:
Baden has also created shareable “Up From Downunder” tags, small cards where supporters can write the names of ten friends they plan to share the initiative with. This simple act of multiplying awareness could be the key to reaching 100,000 donors.
Looking Out Together
As a mission support community, we value long-term partnership, gospel-centred compassion, and walking with mission workers over the long haul. CMCT’s work has never been small, and neither has the impact of faithful people like Colleen, Philip, and their team.
We invite you to pray, to share, and to support if you feel led.
Every gift, every prayer, and every conversation helps lift someone up from under the weight of poverty and oppression and places them in reach of the hope we have in Jesus.
