Timber, Tools & Truth

In rural Paraguay, something special is taking shape—both physically and spiritually.

Francisco and Joanna, together with their son Benji, are serving young people and families with creativity, resilience, and faith. Recently, the team began building their very first cabin. With the help of friends, Ronald and Anna, and using Kiwi-style methods adapted to local Paraguayan materials, they are crafting what they call a “Parakiwi Cabin.” It’s more than a construction project— it’s a symbol of problem-solving, perseverance, and cross-cultural teamwork.

A Safe Place for Young People

At their weekly Youth Club, local kids gather to explore what true friendship looks like. Many are discovering that Jesus is the ultimate friend, one who never leaves them. Increasingly, young people describe the Centre as a safe place where they can be themselves, find dignity, and share their struggles. Through planned lessons and countless informal conversations, Francisco and Joanna gently guide hurting youth toward hope in Christ.

Reaching TCKs (Third Culture Kids)

Beyond their work with local youth, the family also invests in Third Culture Kids—expat children growing up in Paraguay. Recently, they joined forces with Benji to organise a community hike up Cerro Hu, a renowned local hill. Fifty people from across the globe came together, sharing testimonies, building friendships, and celebrating the unity that faith in Jesus brings.

Your Part in the Story

These stories are a glimpse of what God is doing in Paraguay through ordinary people willing to step out in faith. But none of it happens alone. Their work is fuelled by the prayers, encouragement, and generosity of people like you.
