Looking Back – Real Stories. Real Faith.

We’re opening the archives and stepping into the pages of The Treasury with our new series: Looking Back. These aren’t just stories from the past—they’re reminders of who we are, and who we’re called to be.

Our first stop takes us to Belgaum, India, July 1926—a leprosy asylum where Mr. W. C. Irvine ministered faithfully among the forgotten. Twelve of the men in the photo were Christians. Three more professed salvation. All were seen, known, and loved.

Meanwhile, that same year, Mr. Irvine was also travelling through the chilly South Island of New Zealand—visiting Assemblies from Invercargill to Dunedin, sharing messages that were warmly received, even if the weather was not.

The Gospel has always gone to the margins—to the lonely, the sick, the outcast.

As we reflect, let’s also look forward. Who are we called to serve today?

The poor. The broken. The overlooked. The spiritually hungry.

Let their stories stir us to go again—with warmth, with boldness, and with love.
