Project ID: 381
People: Local Deaf leaders, educators, coordinators, and volunteers.

Introduction

For many deaf children and adults in Fiji, access to education, communication, and opportunity remains limited. Without appropriate support, deaf people can experience isolation and exclusion from learning, employment, and community life.

The Fiji Deaf Education Network exists to address these challenges by strengthening access to education and promoting inclusion for deaf people and their families.

Through education, advocacy, and community-based initiatives, FijiDeaf works to ensure deaf people are able to communicate, learn, and participate fully in society.

Aims.

  • Deaf children and adults have access to education and communication in their own language.

  • Deaf people are included in their families, churches, and wider communities.

  • Local leaders and educators are equipped and supported.

  • Awareness and understanding of deafness is strengthened within society.

  • Sustainable, community-led approaches to deaf education and inclusion are developed.

Their work is grounded in dignity, respect, and locally led solutions that support long-term change.
