Overview
Working with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Papua New Guinea to bring hope, help and healing to isolated communities.
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) serves Papua New Guineans living in some of the most remote places on earth—where the nearest town or health clinic can be a five-day walk through dense jungle.
For most of these communities, MAF is the only operator willing and able to fly there. We are their connection to the outside world—their link to hope, help and healing
What our week looks like
Pascal leads the aircraft maintenance department, a team of 16 people (14 of those Papua New Guinean staff) dedicated to keeping MAF’s fleet of 11 aircraft safe and operational. His work includes ensuring resources are available for scheduled inspections, maintaining compliance with aviation regulations, planning strategically for future needs, and managing and developing his team. Pascal is also on the MAF PNG leadership team, helping guide the organisation toward its vision and goals.
Renee is one of MAF’s pilots. She spends her days flying into remote airstrips to transport teachers, pastors, and health workers, as well as delivering essential supplies such as food, building materials, school resources, and medicine. She also performs emergency medical evacuations, often providing the only lifeline for communities that have no other access to critical services.
Things to celebrate
Give praise to God for the recent arrival of two new aircraft in the PNG programme. These aircraft will enable us to continue serving communities in Papua New Guinea well into the future.
Praise God for His protection over MAF’s pilots and aircraft throughout the past year. Despite operating in a challenging and often unforgiving environment, we have been blessed to experience safety and avoid accidents.
Things to pray for
Each year, the maintenance department takes on a trainee engineer and supports them through their exams to become a qualified engineer. Please pray that this programme will continue to provide job opportunities for Papua New Guineans, and that God will give Pascal, HR, and the Chief Engineer wisdom in selecting the right person.
MAF is currently serving fewer communities than we would like, due to the poor condition of many airstrips. Please pray for community leaders—that they would encourage their communities to maintain these airstrips—so that we can continue to serve them effectively.
Pray for Papua New Guinea
