Overview
Matthew and Lydia are involved in discipleship and church planting on the island of Santo, Vanuatu.
What our week looks like
Matthew and Lydia are working primarily with villages in the Akei language group in South Santo.
They are seeking to make disciples of Christ and assist them in forming Bible led churches in their community.
They are teaching through the Creation to New Creation teaching in the homes of family groups inside the community.
They have seen several families come to faith in Jesus as their Saviour and are discipling them further.
There is much confusion about the Bible from previous mission work in the area and also from the mixing of animistic belief into the Bible teaching done in the past.
They are encouraged to see the believers begin to weigh up their existing beliefs through the lens of the Word.
In the lead-up to commencing Bible translation, they have been conducting workshops around the various islands to teach the people what is involved in Bible translation. The people have been practicing the process by translating a small Bible story. When they start hearing God's Word in their language, they become emotional as it touches their hearts deeply.

Praise for the new believers who are meeting for prayer and worship regularly.
Things to pray for
Pray for courage for the believers as they step away from the satanic rituals that are commonplace in the community.
Pray for other members of the community as they begin to participate in the bible teaching, that they will understand and believe.

Donations made to People or Projects incur an 8% administration fee. Donations to GC3 or Headspace do not incur this fee.
