What our week looks like
Darron - I am working with the maintenance team.
Together, we are serving the children who are in the hospital and the orphanage. We do this by keeping up with the maintenance and building projects on the compound. My weeks include using my carpentry skills to disciple others, teaching and learning from the local people. Working with the local men means that they are able to take what they are learning spiritually and physically back to their communities and teach others.
Suzie - I am working with women and children. I am serving the teams that visit us, the women and children in the hospital and the children with special needs in the orphanage. My weeks involve hospitality for visiting teams, having a home that’s open for whoever needs a place to rest, leading women’s Bible studies, talking to women in the hospital and mentoring children. Women are not culturally valued here.
Things to celebrate
As the men learn their roles before God, they are being changed by God and their families are changing.
When women learn the value they have before God, it changes how they view themselves and God is able to work in their lives and the lives of their families.
Things to pray for
Thankfulness to serve together in ministry.
Thankfulness we have a strong community of local people around us.
Wisdom in serving where God calls.
Strength in our marriage as we serve others.
Knowledge on how to interact with our neighbors.
