Faith Amid the Storm: God’s Work in Russia.

In recent years, Russia has undergone a season of deep political and spiritual change, marked by tension and struggle—but also by opportunities for the gospel to shine. Its population of 145 million is among the world’s oldest, with one of the lowest birth rates, and many of the young and educated have sought new beginnings abroad.

The war in Ukraine has caused immense suffering and destruction, leaving deep wounds across nations and within the global Church. Many Russian and Ukrainian believers now find themselves separated by pain and politics. While the national leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church often supports state narratives, there remain courageous Orthodox and Protestant voices calling for truth, peace, and repentance.

Despite restrictions and uncertainty, the evangelical Church continues to grow—now numbering around 1.2% of the population, a threefold increase since 1991. These believers are passionate about sharing Christ and planting churches, even amid limited freedom and a need for unity and leadership.

Pray

  • That this season of turmoil will lead to genuine repentance, renewal, and revival throughout Russia.

  • That Christ will reign at the heart of His Church, bringing transformation to Orthodox, Protestant, and evangelical believers alike.

  • For peace in Ukraine and across the region—and for the Church to stand as a beacon of justice, mercy, and reconciliation.

  • That every trial would strengthen and unite those who follow Jesus across Russia and beyond.
