Nigeria, with its 201 million people, is Africa’s most populous nation—and a nation where the Church is growing at a remarkable pace. Despite poverty, corruption, violence, and persecution, God is building His Church. Even in the face of extreme attacks that have taken thousands of Christian lives, believers continue to gather, pray, and witness with boldness.
Nigeria is known for prayer—massive prayer gatherings numbering in the millions are not uncommon. Many trace both political change and church growth to these movements of prayer. Thousands of Muslims have come to Christ, and Nigerian Christians are carrying the gospel beyond their borders into Africa and even the West.
Yet Nigeria’s greatest spiritual challenge is not persecution, but discipleship. False teaching, personality cults, and prosperity promises threaten the flock.
Pray that the Nigerian church will be marked by humility, holiness, and faithfulness to God’s Word—so that this mighty movement of believers will be rooted deeply and bear lasting fruit for Christ.
