Overview
We work with minority language speakers in Southeast Asia to help them make clear, accurate, and natural translations of the scriptures. Our vision is to see individuals and communities transformed by hearing God's word in their own language.
What we are doing
We are at the beginning stages of our ministry, with Ben currently at the stage of learning the national language. Hannah is finishing off her studies, after which she will begin language survey. We plan to work with a minority language group in Southeast Asia which does not yet have the scriptures available.
God's translated word is essential for a Christian community to grow into a mature understanding of God's will and plan and brings a host of other blessings along with it.
A testimony that struck us
Our friend, who is from the Kayan people in Myanmar (not the area we are serving). When she was a teenager, she tried to share her new faith with her village and family, but they reacted by saying that she was worshipping a foreign god and had abandoned her ancestral traditions. She was forced to leave her village and not permitted to return.
However, a few years later she had the opportunity to share again, but by now the book of Mark had been translated into the Kayan language.
Her family listened carefully to her reading from Mark, and this time they said, "This is our God, not only the God of the foreigners." They started to ask more questions about Jesus and gradually came to believe and be baptised.
For many non-Western peoples, Jesus Christ is seen as a foreign God, but when he comes to them in their own language, this barrier can be broken down.

For the opportunity and pleasure of connecting with friends and supporters, old and new, during our recent stay in New Zealand.
Ongoing Needs
Please pray that we would be made sensitive to God's leading and have wisdom in our decision making. Please also pray that we would find the connections and relationships needed to start a translation project.
Much of our ability to do Bible translation will depend on the attitude of local government officials. Please pray that God would appoint the right people in the right places to open a way for us to work, and that we would have favour in their eyes.
