WHAT IS HEADSPACE ALL ABOUT?

If you are leaving school, it's time to think seriously about the future. What kind of life are you going to live? At Headspace we make time to find out who God is, what He is about and how to put Him at the centre of our plans.

Headspace is one full year running from February-November and is made up of five Blocks – three month-long Teaching Blocks spread over the year, a Work Experience Block and 10 weeks Offshore.

  • BLOCK FOUR: OFFSHORE EXPERIENCE
  • BLOCK FIVE: LIFE PLANNING

BLOCK ONE: FOUNDATIONS - 4 WEEKS

This Block is spent getting to know everyone on the team, learning about personalities, conflict resolution and other handy stuff that will help you to thrive in a community environment during the year.

Our main teaching focus is an overview of the Bible. We find out more about what's in there, why we trust it is in fact the inspired Word of God, learn tools for further study, and some basic application for our lives.

BLOCK TWO: WORK EXPERIENCE - 14 WEEKS

This is where GAP year meets real life. We know it is difficult for many people heading off to university or further training to pay their fees and living expenses.

In Headspace we try to make things easier for you by making paid employment part of the programme so that you can earn some of the money that you need to pay your fees.

BLOCK THREE: CROSS CULTURAL TRAINING - 5 WEEKS

This block is used to prepare you for your trip, you will also have time to think more about your plans for next year and possible vocations.

This is a pretty exciting time as you realise that soon you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you have gained during the year as you head overseas for 10 weeks. n addition you will have the opportunity to get more information on study/training options.

BLOCK FOUR: OFFSHORE EXPERIENCE - 10 WEEKS

This is an incredibly impacting time and is sure to kick your spiritual walk into overdrive! The focus of the trip is cross-cultural exposure; to expand thinking around missions, worldview and generally to grow and strengthen the faith of the team.

Each year we have send the team to serve in Thailand. The activities and arrangements differ according to where you go, but each location provides a life shaping experience. There are opportunities to share your testimony with the people you are working with, and also to encourage and be encouraged by the local church.

BLOCK FIVE: LIFE PLANNING - 4 WEEKS

You've had a year of diverse experiences, you've seen God at work in your life and in the lives of others, and now it's time to put it all together and see where God is leading you next in your journey with Him.

This is a pretty exciting time as you realise that soon you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills you have gained during the year as you head overseas for 10 weeks. In addition you will have the opportunity to get more information on study/training options.You will also have some time to reconnect with your family and friends and let them and your church know what you have been up to.
